I like to get up earlier than I need to. It's not the sleep, although I have always been a mediocre sleeper at best. It's the quiet time that I have to myself before the day's occupations, preoccupations, and obsessions begin to crowd the horizon. I like to listen to the coffee brewing as I check my e-mails and read the morning news. I used to enjoy watching the local news show back in Cadillac as I awakened and drank the coffee that I had brewed. I just like the privacy for that little time in the day.
